Literature Text

The night, so beautiful in its wake,
As I watch him rock to and fro;
A son of Earth abandoned by love.
A curtain of pale blond shadows his grim expression.
Odd how beauty can be so cold,
Yet so tempting to the hungry eye.
Wordless tattoos embrace his skin,
Speaking volumes of his ragged being.
Black lines slither from beneath his shirt,
Like snakes acclimating to his icy heart.
Thoughts so blank,
So empty as a thick puff of smoke exits his lips.
Slender fingers fall against the glass,
So calloused, beckoning;
An orphaned child lost so long ago.
Unknown to the world he sits every night,
Enjoying his cigarette and watching life dance by.
Odd how beauty can be so cold,
Yet be so tempting to the hungry eye.
I wrote this several years ago.
